Real Time Data Management Services, Inc. is a privately held Virginia “C” Corporation founded in 1980 by its CEO, Ernest H. Sammons, and is headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia. Its historical core business is providing automated share and loan data processing services to federal and state chartered credit unions.

Pioneers in Biometric Fingerprint Recognition Technology

In the early 1990s Real Time embarked on a project of developing self-service technology for its clients. The Real Time Kiosk System was developed over a three-year period and has written and owns all of the kiosk code and peripheral drivers. The Real Time Kiosk System has recently been described by experienced credit union executives as the most complete and advanced automated branch banking system on the market today, and technologically and functionally superior to other ATM or branch bank products currently available.

The fundamental concept of the Real Time Kiosk System was to incorporate biometric fingerprint recognition technology for user identity verification, designed specifically to create a fraud-proof member access system. This system enables credit unions to provide a full array of automated financial services that have not been feasible before without the introduction of a system for positive customer identification.

Although significant improvements have been made over the years, the Real Time Kiosk System has been operational and in service on a production level for over 6 years. Its first application was at Purdue University Employees Credit Union, West Lafayette, Indiana. During its first two years, intensive user surveys and studies were done, which led to refinements that make the Kiosk System perhaps the most user-friendly system on the market.
